This journey has truly been a stepping stone toward my dreams, opening doors I never imagined. I hadn’t expected to be part of this program, yet life has led me in unexpected directions, bringing me to this invaluable, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The experiences, knowledge, and incredible people I’ve encountered along the way have all left a lasting impact. In short, my time in Indonesia has been nothing short of remarkable.
PROCEDURES OF PRACTICUM
Before embarking on this journey to Indonesia, we attended numerous briefings to prepare us for what lay ahead. These sessions covered everything we need to know—the do’s and don’ts, our designated accommodations, and the structure of our cooperating school. My practicum journey became all the richer thanks to the support of Bapa Hengki and Ibu Ratna my parents in Indonesia. Meeting these kind and highly knowledgeable educators was a privilege; they were generous with their wisdom and patient guidance, offering support every step of the way. Their feedback and assessments were invaluable, refining my skills and empowering me to grow. With every conversation and interaction, they filled my heart with hope and motivation, preparing me for the path I am determined to pursue. I am deeply grateful for the ways they contributed to this experience and my development.
OUTCOMES OF PRACTICUM
Completing an my Field Study 1 abroad felt like a dream come true, an experience that seemed almost unattainable until it happened. Through this journey, I have grown in ways I couldn’t have imagined; I’ve learned to be flexible, to embrace new customs, and to appreciate the diversity of beliefs and practices around me. This experience has taught me to adapt quickly and to navigate challenges with resilience and grace. The journey required courage and determination, yet it was filled with moments of joy and laughter that balanced the challenges. The Student Exchange Program has shaped me as an educator and as a person, and I wholeheartedly believe it is a unique opportunity for future teachers.
THE CHALLENGES OF PRACTICUM
Of course, not every day was easy, and there were moments that truly tested my patience and perseverance. Language barrier was by far one of the most challenging aspects, as English is not widely spoken, and misunderstandings occasionally created barriers in the teaching-learning process. Yet, in every challenge, I found a way forward. The buddy system played an invaluable role, acting as a bridge between us and making communication more manageable. With the support of my buddies and the determination to connect with my students, I found ways to overcome each obstacle. Each struggle added depth to the journey, and each success, no matter how small, became a victory worth celebrating. This experience has been a journey of resilience, adaptation, and fulfillment, leaving me grateful for every challenge that helped me grow.
